Well, that’s it for series two. With eight episodes done, the crew now leaves the Top Gear Australia bunker to return to their (ab?)normal lives, while waiting for the phone to ring about Series Three.
The Mole’s highlights include Mark Skaife’s reaction when he is told his first lap time – and it’s slower than Greg Murphy and James Courtney (he could have killed Warren Brown until he read out the second, faster lap), seeing Warren and James Morrison is ski masks and dive suits on a personal watercraft (pity one of them didn’t end up in the drink, that would have been even funnier), and Steve Pizzati getting mud all over him when he took an off-track excursion in the Elfin sports car.
The Mole’s Favourite Car Gong was a three-way heat between the Super Clubby (supercharged Clubsport by Walkinshaw Performance) for character, and for raw speed and for being technological marvels, the Nissan GT-R and Audi RS6. Should we have done even more with those cars? Should we get them back? Elfin, for example, wants to try to knock off the top end German and Japanese cars and get to the top of our lap board. Here’s hoping an Aussie car can do it…
The GTHO in the final episode was a learning experience for Pizzati and the crew, who’d all grown up hearing about the legend, only to find that it was actually a mule of a thing to drive. A bit like movie stars: they’re great on film but a bit of a disappointment in person.
What it taught us was that the real legends were the blokes who drove them, not the cars themselves.
At least the muscle car era thing got us thinking: wouldn’t it be great to get a whole bunch of Aussie icons together (the cars and the drivers, that is)?
We’re in the process of putting ideas together for next season so feel free to give us feedback on Series Two, but also knock some ideas around for Series Three.
If they ever let us out into the desert or a mine again, for example, where should we go – and what in?
Or which personality would you like to see behind the wheel and maybe, just maybe, talk a little bit about cars rather than their hair or latest diet?

While last week’s show was one of the best, this clearly wasn’t.
Was a so-so last episode for TG/AU
To UK TopGear fans out there, better watch the 2nd episode of series 13 as it could be pulled-out of youtube… you sure don’t wanna miss the historic head-to-head between McLaren F1 v Bugatti Veyron plus Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4SV v McLaren Mercedes SLR22.
Oh here’s the better quality site to watch the show, doesn’t have the intro and end credits but has the good bits – ( http://www.youtube.com/us er/TopGearS12 )
Have to say, well done guys. Just like with TGUK, the first season was a learning curve – Season 2 was much, much better. I really enjoyed the way james, steve and warren worked together, the photography is getting better (still needs to make the cars look faster like they do in TGUK though – Steve appears to be a great driver, but the shots don’t give him the credit he is due), the reviews are great and the classic ads… what a classic! But please, stop with those horrid lame jokes – they just come across as tacky.
In Season 3, I would really love to see a cheap car challenge Australia-style, or race a supercar against The Ghan.
well i loved the legend of the gt ho i grew up with that exact same car on a poster in the pool table room at my relatives house and i adored it
as for the episode itself it was great and i love the fact that there is a season 3 coming out and i soo hope soo because we need it
to be quite honest withu having watched top gear uk and top gear australia im gonna raise my hand up right now and say top gear australia is the better one. Sure top uk cant be untouchable but so cant this one its got that unique feeling to it and i no i ll get hammered from a lot of people disagring with me but to heck with it i love my aussie top gear
As for some feed back as to wat u can do next series
A) KEEP THOSE GT AND MONARO SEATS!!! there a classic for the show and its a good set to work with
B) race in a 14 hour bathurst race in a car i no it might be a rip off but lets see how our boys go
C) lets have a race between the top Gear uk boys that should be great
d) can we have more sounds of the car engines its self , wat i found was a shame was we did not hear enough of the beautiful v8 from the gt and other cars throughout this series
E) camera angles make a big difference muck around and see wat happens
D) and lastly BE YOURSELF be politically incorect say a car is pig ugly or crap to handle not oo its ok because its ferrari or porsche u get the idea
as for the boys keep them there doing a good job i feel though they need to open up and be themselves though that can change wen they get into a rythm
OOOO AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT REVEAL WHO THE STIG IS PLEASE!!!!!
from your loyal fan
mattyb
great job, well done, dont take any notice of the pomy retards
Congratulations on Series 2 & like the GTHO, the Series 3 should be even better. But what about a real Aussie super car of its’ day (& not relying on a US Cleveland donk to power it), the mighty LJ GTR-XU1? When will you let Steve loose on Mount Panorama in one of these beauties?? (and to think Brocky & Bondy drove them from Melbourne to settle in the new motors before the race)
HAHAHA, feeling pretty confident TGA? REALLY? A series 3? Is it official? Bit presumptious don’t u think?
Just watched TGUK on utube. LONG LIVE THE ONE AND ONLY TOPGEAR.
Last week was good, this week even better. Loved the ho segment – lucky Steve! The new technology section was interesting. Personally, I’d like to see a “come here” button – press the button and your car comes to you. It would save hunting for it in the parking station.
For all those knockers on the site – there are two styles of top gear – you can enjoy both. It’s like food – you can enjoy indian and chinese without saying you can enjoy only one.
Warren, Steve and James are working well together and their personalities are coming through.
Looking forward to tga3.
I agree with a few of the above.
It was way better than last year.
That said, every car the guys test seems to be “great”.
You know why people watch crappy soaps on daytime TV?
Because there is fights and drama and disagreements. You won’t find the TGUK boys agreeing on much, be it the news, a challenge or a review.
Stand up and say a car is bad or a feature is stupid. I was surprised you guys didn’t criticise the Ford Territory when you did the reversing challenge, it got 5 stars but only if you look forward and directly at the in-dash camera. How can this be given 5 stars? You lose all peripheral vision especially the wing mirrors and the rear side windows. I’d have criticised whoever gave the rating for ignoring traffic as you reverse your 4wd out the driveway.
Give us more surprises too, like the Model T around the track. I was genuinely shocked that you did that. Well done.
Well I definitly liked season 2 compared to the first. But I still think they need to lose the practised speech mentality….. not flowing enough off the bat.
i think there will be a S3, lets just hope they work on an angle thast them…. still dont need to try and be exactly like the uk version
The muscle car feature was awesome on the GTHO. Although just as Steve first drove off the mark, I was waiting for that epic V8 sound… and I didn’t get it, it was quickly overlaid with music and commentary. Just 2-3 seconds of that V8 rumble as Steve drove off would’ve topped it off.
When they were talking about the pit crew changing tyres, it would’ve been good for a quick clip showing an actual race tyre change – isn’t it possible to ask Channel 7 for a short clip?
For next season, I agree with what someone mentioned above about keeping those GTHO and GTS seats. They should be put on the main set.
If a race could be organised between the Top Gear UK guys and Top Gear AU guys, that would be epic. Something stupid like they did against the UK team did against the Germans. That was extremely irritating. Maybe get them out here so we have a home turf advantage in the desert hehe.
Controversy is one of Top Gear UKs best features. I love it how Jeremy gets to the news and talks about the letters of complaints he got from the previous show and then just fobs them off. Don’t do the same thing, but drama and controversy is what makes a show. It’s why The Chaser is so popular.
TO EVERYONE WHO HAS WATCHED TGUK EPISODE 2:
Did you see The Stig photocopy his head?? OMG that was hilarious!
Screen shot here:
http://www.justrhysism.co m/television-and-movies/t op-gear-television-and-mo vies/the-stig-photocopies -his-head/
Funny stuff
I like TGA, but not as much as TGUK. Really my main beef with TGA is this, and I have it in point format for the next season.
1.) James should be in on the challenges. (period, he’ll just have to man up, and buy a flanno)
2.) The challenges should be outlined with a point, that way we know what’s going to happen, then it’s up to the guys to show us how creative, and smart they are… surprise us.
3.) I’d like to see the guys each buy a car on a budget, and race from Sydney to Perth in their bombs (that’s another thing, tell us budgets).
4.) Let the guys have a bit more freedom with what their saying, they look too rehearsed.. too word perfect cue-card like.
5.) When James interviews the stars… could it be more car orientated. When it’s all said and done TopGear viewers are petrolheads, and petrolheads just want to hear about cars… asking them about what they are up to is all well and good, but keep it focused on cars, and if they have a crap car… like a 96 magna… have a go at ‘em, they’re celebs, they can take criticism.
6.) Can we see more Fords? They are made here is Australia too, (not just holdens)as well as the famous Inline 6 that we took off the yanks, and made into an awesome engine.
7.) They do other races at Bathurst with all sorts of race categories, and they’re not pro drivers either. If these guys actually entered one it would be cool, with a car on a budget.
8.) I liked it when James went to the states, perhaps send him back next season to Ford Motor Co. and get him to petition them to let us keep our beloved falcon after 2013 (NO TAURUS!!!)
9.) I agree above, keep the seats!
10.) Maybe give Warren the task before the next season to work on some jokes he can put into the show… or have someone write them for him.
That’s it… other then that I’d say more Aussie muscle, and keep up the good work guys.
I hope this will come back on TV again. I love it
The last two eps of series two were the best. Celebrating and challenging aussie Icons, The old commercials were excellent. The GTHO story was brilliant just seeing the car and hearing it go around the track gave me goose bumps, didn’t know Moffat did the whole race on his own without a P-stop, great information. Even the critics around the lunch table thought the last two shows were excellent.
Series 3.
More of the same… would like to see something done to dispell the myth of women drivers. Find some race drivers I know of some competing in rally, drags and track.
redo this challenge Lambo v Jet at williamstown RAAF base in NSW in the 1970’s http://www.youtube.com/wa tch?v=71b5d72cp7w
Show the Torana XU1 challenging the GTHO
Why not put together a car for yourselves and go in the Bathurst 12 hour and/or take an exoticar to the summernats LOL. Though definately do something on the Bathurst track and its history. The Nissan turbo challenge at bathurst, I don’t know too much about though it certainly stirred things up from memory.
Don’t forget Aussies don’t mind US muscle cars not like the poms. I heard Burt Reynolds recently sold the Bandit Trans AM.
Well done on season 2 keep up the good work and come back.
Having been a past critic of the show, I did watch last nights program, and I have to say that I did enjoy it. Good cars, good reviews, very little pointless theatrics.
Well done on a great last episode. Like a lot of people I loved the GTHO segment. It would of been good to compare the original phase 3 to the same model falcon but one that’s been done up in a modern way for say a targa race. To highlight how modern technology helps doing a car up these days. Maybe you could do that with a HQ Monaro?
It would also be awesome to see a proper V8 Supercar go around your lap. That would be very interesting to see what time it would do. I wonder if it would be quicker than a Nissan GTR?
I’ve been watching TG Australia *cough*torrent*cough* and I agree that series 2 was a massive improvement on series 1. I think people have already picked up the most important things for a potential S3: Work towards a point in the challenges – they aren’t a challenge without a reason for doing them, even if the premise is just an excuse for getting very silly (well, that seems to serve the original show well); don’t be afraid of a bit of controversy – rather than making them unpopular, if the guys voiced negative opinions occasionally, I think people would respect the show more; let the guys have a bit more input into what they’re saying so their studio delivery is a bit more natural and bring in a good script editor (lend them Richard Porter, ideally) to give things a bit of a polish; get James in on the challenges properly (I suspect the lineup change may have affected it this series, but there’s no excuse next time) but most importantly, keep things going in the direction they’re going, because you are getting there.
Overall, well done on a much-improved show.
What you need now is good promotion. The show needs to be advertised in a way that draws people in, and although this is down to SBS rather than the TG team, there’s no point making a fantastic product if nobody knows about it.
Vast improvement on last years series though having said that watchin a complete indie 500 race would have been more interesting. Althugh the script seems so rehersed and the guys so tense and I agree with alot of the comments with regard to the constant thumbs up to every car reveiwed. I don’t understand why you would put the RS6 and ve wagon in the same class, then pose the question which one would you have ? Der!!
but your on the right track , I think you need to be more Australian in your approach with the boys nad not copy the English as you’ll never come close and be alot more convincing if you try Australian Hunour, I know this will be hard but there must be some funny aussie out there some where ??
i’d like to see more Cars than Crappy Gm’s or fords, lets evolve with the times, those crates are a dying breed. There’s a reason GM went bust, it’s because they make crap cars.
Finally guys what about having a half decent track in stead of that airstip your currently using.
that aside good work on the improvements and fingers crossed it’s third time lucky as I’m sick of my pomy mates takin the piss out of the Aussie version.
Good work on the series guys….I think overall it was solid. Personally I’d like to see another series. Lets face it there aren’t too many other Australian car shows around at the moment, especially few shows that involve challenges and bets and general tom foolery. As for some ideas for season three, perhaps a jap import car/cars vs aussie cars, lets face it there are a hell of a lot of skylines and supras getting around so theres obviously a market for it. Perhaps you could even get a bi weekly spot with Mark Webber or maybe another aussie doing well internationally. Other than that perhaps entering the boys into the classic adelaide rally or targa tasmania would be great to watch. Or maybe even if the boys had to build a drag car on a budget etc…just some thoughts hope to see you all back next season.
Had a tear in my eye watching the HO go aroud bathurst!
Even had the original comstar wheels on it!
the guy that ows it must have been A REALLY UNDERSTANDING GUY! – theres no way i would let that bunch near my car!- not even the stig..
Hey big Phil the cleveland in the Ho is an (australian block) built in adelaide!!
The us cleveland has 2v heads
phase 2 and 3 had 4vheads in race trim.
thats one of the secrets at the time they didnt want holden to know!! – im surprised they didnt mention that on the show.
TGA will be back it will be better again and we will love it!
By the way to all the tga knockers-its ours its australian, so support it ,or we will loose it and then we wont be able to argue on the subject any more.
cause this site will be gone to!!
Well,a vast improvement over series 1.The GTHO segment was good to see. I think Steve treated it with the respect it deserved.(still can’t work out why they are bringing such ludicrous prices at auction). Here’s hoping series 3 is even better.
Being a Top Gear fan, I must admit that TG:AU Season 2 is definately an improvement over the 1st season. Hopefully the 3rd season would be in the making soon.
Probably 1 of the wish list on my mind is TG:AU use a REAL track rather than some made-up track at some airport.
Again, congrats on the 2nd season success, and I’m looking forward to the next season!
good job guys! loved the last episode and all of this season. the GTHO was awesome and even though it doesnt handle so well its still a legend.. and thats coming from a holden fan
and i also loved the episode with Ian Moss. anyways looking forward to the next season!!
Whether we like or hate the show I believe it’s good to have TG/AU.
It’s good for the industry, good to continue those debates ’cause in a way gets us updated with anything that concerns motoring here at home and overseas, maybe it even helps the show with a few ideas flowing here… just hope the guys at TG/AU HQ. do read and listen to few of them.
If there would be another series hope they be a bit more adventurous, more politically incorrect a few times, definitely unscripted, get better camera angles to show better speed and please get the best, quickest, rarest and most relevant vehicles around.
It all boils down to the vehicles.
you no wat is real funny !! no one is critising saying its crap to hell get it off tv and its funny enough the people that are saying its good right now are saying yeap ur good i like it and cant wait till season 3 ! oooo it wen people act like that!
but yes i love the comments come one lets think of anothering thing, hmm a race around australia in a bomb or something with limited fuel
or pimp my aussie ride !
I for one second the removal of the current Test Track and replacement by a proper circuit. I know you are limited in NSW by a lack of large, vacant airfields, but Camden? I mean, you can see little planes taking off in the background and the sheer length of it, coupled with the lack of any real high-speed corners, means it will never be a real driver’s circuit and a place to test true exotica.
Oh, and agree with all the challenges comments. They are a bit pointless.
I just had another great idea, TGUK go to other countries to misbehave, so why can’t we send our guys somewhere they can wreak havoc? Some place exotic, dangerous, and where english isn’t spoken too well…. like New Zealand.
…It’s a big ask and could be costly but maybe test vehicles in certain parts of our Asian neighbors ( on a few specials – like a big road trip ) and also show some vehicles that are built in those countries.
Overall Not bad.
TGUK is millions better but this series was much better than series 1. I think that there is slowly more humor going into to each show that actually works and the ideas are really good (most of the time) but sorry TGA but i really, really hate the presenters.
I’ll rate this season 5/10. Lasts season was defienetley 1/10.
When is TGUK series 13 starting???
TGA SUCKS CRAP !!!!!!!!!! ANYONE WHO WATCHES TGA IS G**
you’ve got to be kidding, right?
i waited all that time to watch an american car -that won once- that was driven by a canadian -who may have been a relatively good driver, but still a foreigner- round the legendary track i learnt to drive on, while you called it an australian legend.
Peter Brock is the King of the Mountain. he won 9 Bathurst’s, moffat only 4. ALL IN HOLDENS!! yet for your ‘legendary’ car you chose a car that was made by a company that was founded by a man who is the only american mentioned in Mien Kampf, written by hitler, who is said to have greatly admired Ford. you could have chosen the Holden Torana A9X, driven by Brockie in 2 successive wins. in fact, Brockie drove Holden Toranas to 4 wins, the rest being commodores.
from personal experience, the most fun in the world is to drive a LJ XU1 up forest elbow all the way to what is now known as Brock’s Skyline as fast as you can. The Torana is the car that made him famous.
and you still wasted the mount panorama section on a ford?
next time you want involve the mountain, you’d better pick something that’s won more than once. Hell, i’d rather you’d done one on one of the current ‘Foldens’ (there’s so little between them these days) than wasting it on that car. or at least you should have avoided calling it australian.
Top gear australia has from episode 1, season 1 dissappointed me so much, from the attempts (but failures) to transplant the personalities of the UK presenters, to the utter failure to represent what australian revheads are like and want. Sorry guys, but i’m giving up hope that things are going to improve. here’s one less viewer.
Series 2 was semi-decent but James is a wrong choice – full stop.
not bad, much much better than season one, but could you show more super cars rather than a Holden and Ford thing because after a while it gets a bit boring after a while, and more cool driving action rather than going around a track in circles
ha ididnt even watch it!!! Cant wait 4 season 13 TGUK
bathurst girl
Why is it that so many holden fans are under the illusion that Ford is an imported car?!!
When holden is and always HAS been owned by GM usa!!(us gov now!) and has always imported a lot of its parts and panels from os!!
fact is that when the hz died so did the real aussie made holdens – the first commodore was an opel made in germany ,the panels and chassis were brought here in big boxes on boats and arrived rusty!!
How do i know ?? well as a younger bloke i worked in the acacia ridge gm plant putting them together
Later on they went to nissan for engines in the vk – “gee right after a bloke in a nissan flogged everyone”
I could go on and on but i wont,
like i said the real holdens died with the hz or wb if you wanted a ute
After that – well lets say its now a very multicultural vehicle! – but no way an aussie car anymore except by badge.
In fords case they did import but that was a long time ago – not since the late 60s and have been building the same engine blocks in aus used for all the strait 6s and most v8s since the xw i think to the 09fg!!s that over 40years!!
thats why the oval is blue!! – tru blu i reckon.
What i hated most about this whole season of TGA is that despite waiting for 8 week i never saw the show take some truely original ideas and the main critisms on board that many of us had after s1. And i think the arrogance of the show is shown by the fact that they immedately assume that there is going to be another season.
What u seriously think ur good enough to be on the air again!!!!
Maybe its this presumptious attitude that causes the show to pull no punches as we have come to expect from the true TG.
Ratings in for last ep [02x08] – 487,000. Worst ratings for the season. It says something boys……
good onya black duck,a bit of reallity,.and boguns if you want to see some good hotted up vs commodores go to hungary, its just like the western suburbs of sydney, but they call them opel omegas.
Go look at the TGUK boards for their latest show. Not a single major problem that viewers had with the show, some minor criticisms about people’s personal preferences but 99% great reviews.
Just consider the difference compared to the feedback u have consistently got for ur show. Getting the picture???????
marty, that is because all the negative comments were writen by pommy a holes
just like you so f off
Hats off for Bathurst girl, the only post that showed maturity on this site.
As for black dog, for someone who supposedly worked for GMH you seem know very little about its early history (probabily because you didnt really work there).
“When holden is and always HAS been owned by GM usa!!” Black dog! Holden was an entirely Australian owned motor body building operation up until 1931, as a result of the great depression it was acquired by GM.
The reason FORD is “true blue” as you put it, is because Holden – in the early part of its operations – was building car bodies for FORD because they did even have a plant in Australia.
So in future, please get your facts right before you make a dog of yourself..oh wait too late…
This season was much better, finally starting to feel like a format is coming together. Please don’t say ‘Stiggo’ again, Steve.
I simply like the way Ford had to lie about the HO horsepower to get it to win at Bathurst. HA!
For Holden vs Ford, they both have lots of overseas input & parent companies. Get over it. I’m a Holden fan & I have.
Mattyb – For fu@ks sake, can’t you at least throw in the occasional full stop.
The show wasn’t as good as the last one. Better than season 1 though. The star interviews need to be more about thier car/driviing history, not thier latest soapie role/crap single. Don’t worry about making them seem less than perfect, that’s what we want & I’m sure they will get over it.
The bathurst segment should have included a classic Holden to & had the cars running against each other.
The test track sucks. We regularly see the cars being reviewed on a proper racetrack, what’s wrong with running the test times out there? Keep the airport for the celebs if you need something local for them.
Steve reminds me of a rat. Sorry, I just can’t warm up to the guy. That face, that whiney voice. They all need to loosen up abit before the show to. I might suggest a 6 pack of VB each before the show. If that doesn’t work try weed. Murine for the eyes.
To get things back on track.
TGA V2 was great I watched every epersode and its clear to see that the quality is getting better and better.
Yes some of the humour is a bit corny but so are most of your mates at the pub.
And to those wankers that knock TGA how bloody typical are you, you boof heads.
Just because your got the right to whinge doesn’t mean you have too.
On ya TGA
allgeretta –
Your completly full of it arent you??- holden has never been as you say luvvy!!
and the bits holden were building were actually
parts of the chassis
and not for long,
I did work there smarty and the bit about rusty opel parts is true – DEAL WITH IT.
Annnnd – you dont even want to know how badly built that other little s/box the camira was.
I had an le monaro (wich i loved) so im not completly anti holden.
facts are facts – and we will never agree – isnt it great!!
Baldy is right – Yes and to get back to the point here – TGA is getting better every show
stop your pommy winging and let it evolve,it will get there in a year or so and get there faster if we all support it , then they will get a bigger budget!!
or do you think tguk started out hireing the raaf for an afternoon to chase a car around and make it look like it had a chance
I think not.
and barry – YOUR STILL AN IDIOT!!
Keep the good work up guys – TGUK wasn’t as polished in it’s first couple of seasons.
I would like to see some honesty from the hosts though – if a car is bad, say it’s bad. And please please let us see a race with a fast car (going fast – not stuck in traffic).
For Season 3 how about Steve in something like the new Aston V12 Vantage or one of his favourite Porches against Warren and James flying to Mt Hotham. If everyone left from the Top Gear Track in peak hour it would take Warren and James ages to get to Sydney airport and we could have a close race.
Look old dog/black dog, what ever you call yourself, click on this wee link here and enlighten yourself… http://en.wikipedia.org/w iki/Holden, pay special attention to the information under ‘HISTORY’….
Overall the second season was way better than the first. I agree with what’s been said, but one part you guys really need to work on is the onscreen chemistry with the hosts. Obviously the guys are good mates, but you don’t really feel it, everything feels so scripted. Some of the jokes etc. just make you cringe. I know these guys aren’t Jeremy Clarkson’s, but you should take advantage of this and continue to make the show more your own. Let the dialogue flow topgear is afterall 3 mates screwing around with cars, make it believable. If you can’t think of anything humorous enough, then don’t add it, simply put. Also like what’s been said, feel free to be brutal, the guys are so sincere about everything, make brutal calls on each other and the cars. Main point, be yourselves!
Also do more budget challenges like the UK boys. Make sure there’s plenty of destruction & cars falling apart and you have a winner, also give more incentive to win, more competitiveness between the guys. I noticed when the show had the likes of some of the v8 drivers like Murphy and Skaife they really added to the humour. Maybe if you incorporated some of these drivers/celebs into the challenges???
Very much looking forward to the next season.
Good Luck guys. All the best!!!
I think the aussie version of top gear is quite a laugh – no really – but more at the pathetic ability of mr trumpet player. He’s fat, ugly, not funny so get rid of him.
Some of the stories have been interesting, but not funny.
Can you produce a version without voiceover? That way I can just hear the cars and not the gibber gabber from the yokals who pass for presenters.
Go back to what you were doing. Top gear will never go far in this country, on the BBC version will.
Nice knowing you.
U GUYS ARE SOOO BAD AT WHAT YOU DO. I DONT KNOW HOW U COULD BE SO BAD.
ok Ally g – exactly were in your wikipeeda does it say they were making cars??
they were making saddles and sidecars (sniggers and laughs!!!) – they didnt do whole cars or close to it till gm bought them!
Did you read it?? or have mum read it to you?
But thanks for the ammo thats a great article and i reccomend it to all ford fans.
Id get that bullet wound in your foot looked at!
Black dog, sadly it seems to me that you didnt quite understand you own english. Post no.35 and I quote youe exact words, ‘When holden is and always HAS been owned by GM usa!!(us gov now!)’.
It w// clearly states in my posted link that Holden (whether they were making complete vehicles or not) was an entirely Australian owned company up until GM took over.
And in response to Holden not doing complete cars at the time may be true, but neither did FORD, after all who did they turn to for the body work? HOLDEN!
So just keep in mind when you see all those beautiful FORD classics cruising the highways, its actually got a HOLDEN body on it…
This is the material upon which I base my comments on, something which you clearly dont do.
Now please stop making a dog of yourself…
TGA, congrats on a successful and enjoyable Season 2. Can’t wait for S3 to start.
As a suggestion for S3, why not SEND WARREN RACING? That should be worth a laugh.
BAD
1: Get rid of James; his painful
2: Challenges need to be longer/more involving
3: Be more opinionated, you’re not going for school captain
4: Risk more in the challenges/cause more damage which doesn’t mean a crash Darby, just push the limits
5: Less cheese, sorry but the saxophone in the tail pipe made me turn the channel till it was over.
GOOD
1: Better than last year
2: Group Dynamics at times, less James
3: Diversity of cars
Generally I think it is a good show being compared with a great show in the UK version, definitely top 10 viewing in my house for the week, and best in its time slot.
Well to be honest this season was a bit better than the last. The fact of the matter is though, you either have it or you don’t and Top Gear Australia is utterly hopeless.
Quite a improvement from last TGA but i think there is still a lot to be desired from it. They were strong episodes at the start a progressively got worse i hope they do it better next time.
please come back to kalgoorlie WA. i dunno what new you could do here. but at least get some proper cars this time. a proton jumbuck is barely a car. you should have got a holden at least.
also you must organise to get that golfers BMW M5 ute on the show, that would be good!
have a comparison between the HSV Maloo R8 and an FPV Pursuit ute.
how about some monster trucks too! that would be great!
theres some ideas, i hope you can do these
Good job big improvement over series one all good things take time.
Series 2 had some good moments
It still seems to be struggle for the presenters to appear natural.
Don’t try so hard to be funny. If you are genuinely funny it will come across without scripted jokes that are lame.
The star in the bog standard car interviews need to appear more like a discussion and less like a Q & A session with the Q’s being read off a clipboard. ie. More relaxed.
There needs to be less silliness – wheel chair races / musical car parts etc. and more cool cars and cool challenges
I know TGUK took a few seasons to get the formula right and they have had 13 seasons to practice – it will take time. But learn from TPUK – listen to the audience feedback.
All the best – I look forward to a another season
TGA is good, but you could make it better by:
getting rid of really lame jokes,
talking at the start of an eposisode and like jeremy. TGA just stand there for a minute,
Presentors need to be themselves,
In the electric scooter race james called understeer, oversteer, Know what you talking about,
segments finish to quick, electric cars, armored cars,
and more car reviews
I’m not a pom but u can not remake a program as good as TGUK. Just stop
Well a lot has been said here, but I think I should clear up the point that yes… the GTHO IS an Aussie legend. We took a impractical coupe off the yanks… and made it into a proper saloon car with awesome performance variants, known and loved by many Australians. Now refined and improved to the great car it still is. Go the Falcon!
To all the sooky la la’s out there get a grip and calm down,YOU DONT HAVE TO WATCH TOP GEAR AUSTRALIA IF YOU DONT WANT TO, kerry o’brien on the abc is looking forward to seeing you watch the 730 report on the abc because you changed the channel and are now watching him instead of the 2 top gears which i am watching cause i just love top gear australia and top gear uk. please get behind them and support them both.
I AM sorry but TGA just doesn’t have it! You would do better changing the name and starting fresh, It wil NEVER be TG UK so don’t try with the same name.
Imagine my horror when my finger accidently slipped on the tv remote on Monday night at 7.30pm and on came SBS. ‘OH NO! Not more TGA’ I thought…but on I watched and then I thought, ‘this is well made, well written, funny, intelligent, well scripted, the presenters actually seem to know what they are doing and seem to genuinly like each other, decent cars, interested audience, good guest, better track….’ and then I relised TGUK is back – Huurah!!!
As for the quote in your piece above’…while waiting for the phone to ring about Series Three…..’ Don’t hold your breath. I will personally insuring that call does not happen.
Next series they should do a segment where they get a ford territory awd.Mod it up with lots of different 4 wheel drive bits eg big tiers, snorkel, bull bar, winch and give the car more ride height.when they have done that they should take every thing on the inside they don’t need out and make the car light. Then take on a serious off road track.
That would be Awesome!!!
When is SBS going to show TG UK series 13. It’s the only TG that I watch as the Aussie series is just crap.
Watching TGAU after 2seasons straight is like watching Ghost Whisperer, or Masterchef Australia.
It’s not interesting, it’s not involving. It’s just a show. A diluted and cringeworthy show.
The end.
Can the boys actually use their track to do all the track testing of the cars instead of using Oran Park? And stop getting a holden to compare to every car on the show (e.g. Why have an RS^, when you can just use a hscv spotswagon instead.) They somehow managed to do it for anything. Series wasd better that the first one. Can we get seasonal dvds please.
Firstly to all those that are here complaining about TGA even being on, please change your TV channel and post elsewhere. I simply do not understand why you bother with all the noise? If you don’t want to watch it then don’t!
I enjoyed this season much more than the first. I think most of the constructive comments I had have already been posted. I agree this show isn’t as as good as the TGUK but I went back and watched a few episodes of TGUK season 2 and really I don’t think we are doing too bad. Anyway I don’t want and Aussie copy of TGUK, I’m happy to have an Aussie show about cars regardless of the name.
I liked James and thought he fitted in better than the last bloke (TGUK had some presenter changes in the first couple of seasons as well) and look forward to the guys settling in, relaxing and not having to try so hard. The more the presenters enjoy the show I think the more we will as well.
That trumpet dude can blow my horn any time!
Busby i think its about thier budget, sometimes they have to do stories from where the story is! – the uk is a tiny place and everything to do with tguk is within 50ks of london!!
Give em a go!! cost sbs australia 15m!!!
no wonder they they look a bit skint!
